The cattepillar (12/15)

A simple existence,
A comfortable life.
She crawls around thinking that life is perfect and that she is doing what is right.
She knows that she is safe and protected by the gardener while she basks in the sun
without a care in the world.
She knows that there is a change coming, something that she can not explain.
She pushes these thoughts away and dreams on in the sun.
And then it happened.
She started to change, to become trapped, tangled, stuck in a shell.
A hard, dark place where she could not see the sun, where there was no warmth.
"Why is this happening?"
"What will i do?"
His voice cut through the shell and whispered to her.
"I am near, you are being changed."
She was so afraid, but knew the gardener was close by to keep her safe.
So she waited,
and she waited,
alone in the dark, cold shell, clinging to the words He spoke over her.
Just when she could bear the dark place no longer He spoke again.
"It's time to come out of the dark and into the light. I have renewed you."
She was afraid to try to leave the shell, but she wiggled and pushed as much as she could against the side of the shell.
It was so painful she thought she might never see the light again.
She cried out for help and there was no answer.
She pleaded for freedom and it was met with silence.
Then all at once she was broken free.
Her dark shell started to break away.
She saw the light, felt the warmth against her body.
Then she remembered what He had said to her,
"...I have renewed you."
She looked and saw that her old body was gone and it was replaced with a delicate, beautiful, new body.
She now had wings to fly.
To fly through the sky soaking up all the warmth of the sun.
The gardener was close by looking on the newly formed butterfly with compassion,
pleased with his renewed creation.
